∞ The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is one of Melbourne’s and Australia’s most iconic landmarks. It sports a 100,000 person capacity and an established reputation for hosting events in the world spotlight such as the Cricket World Cup, AFL Grand Final and, in the past, the Olympics.

∞ Nuvo was selected from a panel of Tier 1 Electrical Contractors by Cockram Constructions and the Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) to deliver the Electrical package ($2.2M) for an upgrade of the exterior areas of the MCG. This involved a dynamic themed lighting package that can be programmed for individual events such as team colours for AFL matches, and information panels at the gates to the MCG.

The project involved a high degree of consultation with the MCC throughout the project from design through construction and commissioning as the project directly affected customers’ experience before entering the MCG. Careful consideration was made to minimise customer impact throughout as the project was delivered in an operational venue.

Timing of the project was scheduled to overlap with a major sport event that would require project shutdown for a time. The Nuvo Project Manager instead proactively decided to accelerate the project schedule to complete delivery well ahead of time. This created an excellent result for the customer: Susi Schroeder, Project Manager for Major Capital Works, MCC, said “The exterior themed lighting package was completed on budget and ahead of schedule which enabled the MCC to utilise the exterior LED lighting for the ICC Cricket World Cup Final.
